The plan, which was unveiled at a meeting of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC) in February, replaces a plan in place since 1994. The new plan lays out several goals for government agencies, vaccine manufacturers, the health care system, and other stakeholders to undertake during the next decade, including improving the research and development process, ensuring better use of vaccines, and enhancing postmarketing safety monitoring of vaccines. In addition to such domestic goals, the plan also calls for US organizations to support vaccine use to boost global health.
