N2  - The thirty-ninth Annual Meeting of this Society was held in Jacksonville, Ill., May 21, 22 and 23, 1889, and was attended by about 200 members. The season was pleasant, the city beautiful, the accommodations provided by the Committee of Arrangements convenient, and the members engaged harmoniously in the legitimate work of the Society. Reports and papers of interest pertaining to almost every department of the science and art of medicine were read and discussed with profit and with much less waste of time than usual. The meeting was called to order at 10 A.M. Tuesday by the President, Dr. C. W. Earle, of Chicago. In the absence of the Mayor, a brief and appropriate address of welcome was delivered by City Attorney Yates, and was responded to in behalf of the Society by Dr. N. S. Davis, of Chicago.
