In his preface to Internal Medicine: An Illustrated Radiological Guide, author Jarrah Ali Al-Tubaikh points out that “Radiology books concentrate on the radiological signs according to the system involved, not according to the disease.” A physician who practiced internal medicine and then surgery before he became a radiologist, the author explains that this book is designed to help radiologists think like internists—in other words, think in terms of disease progression and complications, where to look for and image these complications, and the best modalities to use to reach a diagnosis. At the same time, internists can likewise benefit from this book by learning what help radiologists can offer in establishing a diagnosis.
