N2  - The best way of showing what part sanitation is playing in the present canal work is to point out what the conditions would be if the present methods of sanitation were not in vogue, and then to present conditions as they actually are. The difference between the two pictures will fairly represent what is due to sanitation.For some years the Isthmus of Panama has had about as bad a reputation for health as any locality in the world.
