Y1 - 1909/05/22 N1 - 10.1001/jama.1909.02540470047013 JO - Journal of the American Medical Association SP - 1681 EP - 1681 VL - LII IS - 21 N2 - This book of 58 pages contains a minutely detailed description of the macroscopic anatomic peculiarities occurring in high-grade lateral curvature of the spine, most of the material having been drawn from a very complete dissection of the cadaver of an adult female scoliotic. The changes in shape and position of the abdominal and thoracic viscera are noted and described, as well as the skeletal abnormalities. The work will be of great interest to the orthopedic specialist, but is too highly technical for those not especially familiar with the subject. A series of 37 plates, beautifully executed, accompanies the text. The German literature on the subject is briefly reviewed, and there is a short introduction by Julius Hochenegg.
