My mention of the two subjects referred to is called forth by articles recently appearing in The Journal A. M. A.The first relates to the treatment of intolerance of quinin by the administration of morphin plus atropin prior to giving the quinin or the synergists of quinin. The Journal, Oct. 31, 1908, contains an abstract from an article by G. Nogara appearing in an Italian journal. The abstract is numbered 129, on page 1562, and reads as follows:"Nogara reports a case of threatening acute malaria in which the necessary quinin caused convulsions with fever whenever it was taken. After ineffectual trials of various preparations of quinin with the same disastrous results he decided to place the patient under the influence of morphin plus atropin.
