N2  - This is the third edition of this quasitextbook of which the first edition appeared in 1972. The present edition was necessitated, not so much because of the market demand, but probably because since the first edition the perspective of hematology has changed completely, in its science as well as practice. This change has come about as a result of applications of molecular biologic and immunologic techniques.
