A recent one is the book being reviewed. It is sponsored by the Committee on Economic Development, which commissioned the research and position papers, and was funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. By and large, the articles were written by economists and other market-oriented experts.The articles cover the major problems, such as catastrophic and long-term care; practitioner issues regarding economic incentives for professionally appropriate care; and workplace issues as to what employers can do about reducing costs, such as life-style changes, safety measures, and reduction of disability. Perhaps the only difference of opinion between two authors concerned the roles of government and the private sector in long-term financing of long-term care.
