    I was most impressed by Dr Brancati's article on the art of "pimping" in the July 7 issue of The Journal.1 His grasp of the subject is superb. He has provided us with a cogent summary of material critical to success in the academic world. He has filled a void left when the most creative among us began to devote our time to obfuscating insurance companies instead of each other. I am grateful for his timely article.However, I find a major omission in Dr Brancati's otherwise excellent article. Regrettably, he has failed to mention one of the more effective techniques of SID (Sudden Intern Disgrace), employed by advanced practitioners of the art in leading medical centers (although perhaps not widely known in Pittsburgh) and termed "the Feint."When a particularly intense intern (or other antagonist) completes an extensive and thorough evaluation of a clinical problem,
