N2  - In the ORIGINAL CONTRIBUTION "Reducing Birth Defect Risk in Advanced Maternal Age," published in the Nov 23 issue of The Journal (242:2292-2294, 1979), on page 2294, the first sentence in the first paragraph of the "Comment" section should have read as follows: "This study shows that in spite of a substantially increased risk of birth defects in infants of women 35 [not '45'] years or older, the majority of the [not 'these'] birth defects causing the increase can be diagnosed in utero." In addition, the last sentence of the same paragraph should have read: "For a smaller group of gravid women aged 45 years or older [not 'younger'], this risk could be substantially reduced, but not enough to eliminate all of the excess risks associated with advanced maternal age."
