However, when discussing possible sources of infection, the authors failed to mention culturing the endoscopy wash bottle, a reservoir common to all procedures. The antifoaming simethicone solution routinely placed into the wash bottle may also be source of contamination. The wash bottle should be regularly disinfected, and the simethicone solution should be discarded after its expiration date.
