Kyle, MD, and Marc A. Shampo, PhD (241:375,1979). I think it is of interest that according to Helen Taussig, MD, it was Niels Stensen (1671) who is credited with the first reported case of the congenital malformation commonly known as the tetralogy of Fallot.1 This was more than 200 years before Etienne Fallot published his work on the congenital complex that now bears his name.I came to recognize the second idea I wish to point out following discussions with Drs Joseph Foley and John Conomy concerning the incidence of spinal cord infarction following infrarenal aortic surgery.
