TY - JOUR T1 - SErum lithium levels and long-term diuretic use AU - Jefferson JW, Kalin NH Y1 - 1979/03/16 N1 - 10.1001/jama.1979.03290370038025 JO - JAMA SP - 1134 EP - 1136 VL - 241 IS - 11 N2 - In normal volunteers whose conditions were stabilized with lithium carbonate, there were no significant changes in serum lithium levels during a two-week period while they received 40 mg/day of furosemide. During another two-week period, a 50 mg/day dosage of hydrochlorothiazide did cause a significant rise in serum lithium levels. These observations suggest that a substantial amount of lithium may be reabsorbed in the loop of Henle and that the combined use of lithium and a loop diuretic may not require modification of the lithium dosage.(JAMA 241:1134-1136, 1979) SN - 0098-7484 M3 - doi: 10.1001/jama.1979.03290370038025 UR - http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/jama.1979.03290370038025 ER -
