TY - JOUR T1 - COngenital arteriovenous fistula causing congestive heart failure in the newborn AU - Murray DE, Meyerowitz BR, Hutter JJ Y1 - 1969/08/04 N1 - 10.1001/jama.1969.03160180116018 JO - JAMA SP - 770 EP - 771 VL - 209 IS - 5 N2 - A large arteriovenous fistula, involving the epigastric arteries and the umbilical vein and associated with congestive heart failure, occurred in a newborn infant. An aortogram was made through the umbilical artery. Then the involved vessels were ligated and excised. The cardiomegaly rapidly decreased in size, and the infant recovered. The signs of these fistulas include heart failure, widened pulse pressure, bruit, and thrill.
