TY - JOUR T1 - OCcupation for the blind physician AU - Clark BP Y1 - 1969/06/30 N1 - 10.1001/jama.1969.03160130059021 JO - JAMA SP - 2475 EP - 2475 VL - 208 IS - 13 N2 - To the Editor:—  Pediatricians are badly needed for administrative positions in the field of mental retardation. While blindness would, of course, be a handicap in such a career, it need not be an absolute bar. Pediatricians are uniquely qualified by reason of training and attitude for positions in this field. Opportunities are better, of course, in those states that have medically, rather than educationally, oriented programs for the retarded.I would be delighted to consider this man for this position on my staff. After a period of not more than two years, I would guarantee him that he would be fully qualified to serve as a superintendent of a similar institution regardless of his defect.
