TY - JOUR T1 - THe immunofluorescent skin test in systemic lupus erythematosus AU - Percy JS, Smyth CJ Y1 - 1969/04/21 N1 - 10.1001/jama.1969.03160030059005 JO - JAMA SP - 485 EP - 488 VL - 208 IS - 3 N2 - Frozen sections of punch biopsies from the clinically normal skin of 150 patients were stained with a fluorescein-conjugated antiserum active against human immunoglobulin G (IgG), IgM, IgA, transferrin, and fibrinogen. Fixation of antiserum to the dermal-epidermal junction was demonstrated in 45 of 50 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and in 9 of 100 control patients. On the basis of these results, we conclude that immunofluorescent staining of the clinically normal skin is a useful diagnostic test for SLE.
