TY - JOUR T1 - THoracic duct drainage and low back pain AU - Shehadeh IH, Guttmann RD, Murray JE, Merrill JP Y1 - 1969/01/20 N1 - 10.1001/jama.1969.03150160070020 JO - JAMA SP - 558 EP - 559 VL - 207 IS - 3 N2 - Forty-seven recipients of renal allografts from living related donors underwent thoracic duct drainage as an adjunct to immunosuppressive therapy. Ten patients complained of severe low back pain upon cessation of lymphatic drainage. In three of these, the pain was promptly relieved by reinstitution of drainage and could be reproduced at will by reclamping the thoracic duct catheter. This observation is related to the anatomy, innervation, and physiology of the thoracic duct.
