During this period the teacher's health education activities reinforce and supplement the health efforts of the home. To carry out his health-supporting role the teacher needs to know something about the characteristics of healthy children. He needs to know also how to single out children whose behavior or appearance suggests that something may be wrong with their health and how to refer them for medical investigation. Finally, and most important, he needs to know how to teach health and how to foster healthful living in his classroom.This book attempts to provide the teacher or prospective teacher with knowledge and skills to achieve these goals.
