The monographs were developed from an extensive collection of case reports of accidental poisoning and information from standard reference books on pharmacology and clinical and industrial toxicology. Each monograph includes a list of synonyms; concise notes on dosage, pharmacological action, toxic effects, and possible effects of massive overdose; suggestions for treatment; and simple aids for identification of the toxic substance. Occasionally abstracts of published cases are included.
