Herbert W. Coone, U. S. A. F. (MC), was presented the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service as Chief of Professional Services and Deputy Commander of the U. S. A. F. Hospital at Wiesbaden, Germany, from February, 1956, to December, 1958. During this period, the hospital underwent an unprecedented growth in workload and stature as the principal medical and surgical center for the United States Air Force in Europe. Doctor Coone was cited for his leadership and perseverance in improving the medical standards and for his conscientious research of preventive medicine and the community health program which resulted in an unprecedentedly low noneffective rate. Col. Ralph M. Lechausse, U. S. A. F. (MC), was presented the Legion of Merit for his meritorious performance of duty as Surgeon of Joint Task Force 7 during the 1958 nuclear tests in the Pacific.
