In discussing books and therapy, the author suggests excluding certain types of books, and to do this the hospital librarian must have the interest and cooperation of the physician, the occupational therapist and the medical social worker. Interloan services between hospital and other libraries in the community are described. After a full discussion of the organization of hospital libraries, the author emphasizes the importance of professional libraries and the physician's greater reliance on current periodicals rather than on books. She also stresses the need for indexes, notably the Quarterly Cumulative Index Medicus. The development of hospital libraries and their present and future importance apparently depends on SN - 0002-9955 M3 - doi: 10.1001/jama.1939.02800240075034 UR - http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/jama.1939.02800240075034 ER -
