The Montefiore Hospital of New York has such a committee, and for the guidance of physicians and other members of the staff this committee compiled a manual of diets, now appearing in the third edition. The manual sets forth a series of standard dietary prescriptions. Each diet appears in outline form, usually on a single page or less, and the information provided includes a list of indications, characteristics, foods allowed, foods to be avoided and a typical menu for one day. It might be well if future editions of this useful manual were to include menus for several days. Probably this isn't necessary, but such information would be useful to practitioners who desire to give suitable instructions for patients in the home.
