N2  - This excellent monograph is based on 122 cases of multiple sclerosis and thirty-four cases of related diseases (lethargic encephalitis and disseminated encephalomyelitis), with brief records of all cases which were studied in Copenhagen clinics. There are separate chapters for each of the principal symptoms and syndromes encountered, such as sensory disturbances, ataxia, ocular symptoms, sphincter disturbances and psychic symptoms. In each such chapter a review of the literature is first given, followed by an account of the author's experience. There are lucid chapters dealing with the relationship and contrasts between disseminated sclerosis, lethargic encephalitis, encephalomyelitis and neuromyelitis optica. Every neurologist who can read Danish will be grateful to the author for this splendid compilation.
