N2  - Glomus tumors of the digits of the upper extremities have been recognized since they were first described by Masson1 and Barré and Masson2 in the French literature in 1924. These tumors are comparatively rare and are probably frequently overlooked clinically. Bailey3 reports that in the eleven years following Masson's description of the tumor only fifty-eight instances of glomus tumor were recorded. If they are not overlooked, their exact nature may not be clear. It is my purpose in this report to call attention to them briefly and to record a typical case.Glomus tumors may occur anywhere over the cutaneous surface of the body, but they occur most frequently in the extremities,3 and especially in the digits of the upper extremities. The histologic structure is now well known, and the histogenesis of the glomus tumor was readily established.4 Those interested in the histology of the
