N2  - This volume is timely; an inevitable result of our technical progress is more free time for leisure and recreation.Adequate orientation is provided by chapters on development of leisure and recreation, the recreation movement in this country and other lands, world trends in recreation and conditioning factors in leisure and recreation. Especially helpful is a chapter on leisure and personality, in which reaction of the individual to opportunities offered by increased leisure is discussed. Thought must be given frequently to preparing large segments of our population for leisure if they are to use it and not abuse it. One facet of this problem is treated in a later chapter on recreation and social maladjustment.The place of public, semipublic and private agencies in development and furtherance of community recreations is described in detail in two chapters.
