TY - JOUR T1 - PReparations of sulfanilamide AU - Wigton RS, Johnson SH Y1 - 1939/01/21 N1 - 10.1001/jama.1939.02800030072025 JO - Journal of the American Medical Association SP - 262 EP - 262 VL - 112 IS - 3 N2 - To the Editor:—  We would like to correct a source of confusion regarding the terminology as used in our article "Peripheral Neuritis Following Sulfanilyl-Sulfanilamide (Disulfanilamide)" published in the Oct. 29, 1938, issue of The Journal, page 1641.Disulon, prepared by the Alba Pharmaceutical Company, Inc., is sulfanilyl-sulfanilamide (synonyms, DB 32, disulfanilamide, DPR 374, diseptal C).Uleron, prepared by the Winthrop Chemical Company, is dimethyl-disulfanilamide (synonyms, DB 90, DPR 373, diseptal A).There is a third "disulfanilamide" compound termed Diseptal B, or DB 87, which is monomethyl-disulfanilamide.Patient 2 in the article received Uleron, which was not furnished by the Winthrop Chemical Company but was obtained by the family physician from Germany.
