Berg, a chiropractor of Los Angeles, after serving eight months in San Quentin Penitentiary, returned to Los Angeles in May for a new trial, the decision of the lower court having been reversed. Berg pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter as a result of criminal abortion which resulted in the death of a 15 year old university student. He withdrew his plea of guilty but was convicted at the second trial and sentenced to life imprisonment at San Quentin (The Journal, Sept. 15, 1928, p. 806).
