An outline of its contents comprises the following topics: total volume of blood, the leukocytes, blood formation at high altitudes; the physiology of the hematopoietic organs; diseases of the blood; the lymph, lymph glands and the lymphatic system, and the water metabolism of plants. Slowly but surely the editors are completing the stupendous task imposed on themselves and associates in bringing this useful work to conclusion. Since it deals with the normal and pathologic physiology, the set as a whole belongs in every biologic library, hospital, research laboratory and clinic, though the price threatens to be prohibitive for the individual. The discussions are fair and authoritative, the bibliography particularly helpful.
