Scientific journals are only as good as the quality of the material
submitted for consideration for publication. In 2000, JAMA received 4366
manuscripts for consideration for publication, including reports of major
clinical trials, practical clinical review articles, and provocative opinion
pieces. On behalf of the editorial staff, we express our sincere appreciation
to the many scientists, medical researchers, and clinicians who submitted
their papers to JAMA. We appreciate the opportunity to evaluate these interesting
