TY - JOUR T1 - REsuscitation and stabilization of the critically ill child AU - Fortenberry JD Y1 - 2010/12/01 N1 - 10.1001/jama.2010.1744 JO - JAMA SP - 2417 EP - 2418 VL - 304 IS - 21 N2 - Attending to the ABCs of resuscitating a critically ill child can be one of the most stressful yet satisfying interventions in medicine. For many practitioners, including general pediatricians and adult or emergency medicine physicians, exposure to such scenarios is thankfully uncommon. Physicians and trainees in other specialties need to develop the ability to manage the care of these children but often lack the available pediatric expertise in addition to decreased experience in a pediatric setting. Understanding the anatomical and physiological differences between children and adults is a key principle in effective management of these patients.
