To the Editor: In response to the Special Communication by Dr Rothman and colleagues,1 I would note that the New York State Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, along with several other dermatological organizations in New York State, led the opposition to the Seal of Recognition program of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) at the annual AAD meeting in 2008.2- 5 Despite our joint efforts, we were unsuccessful in preventing the adoption of the Seal of Recognition program by the AAD Board of Directors.
