The fourth edition of Clinical Dermatology attempts to present “more science behind diseases and their treatment” than competing dermatology primers. The target audience is family physicians, but we believe the text is appropriate for medical students learning dermatology for the first time. The text likewise provides a reasonable framework for dermatology educators to consider when planning a dermatology course or lecture program. The new edition adds 3 new chapters on racially pigmented skin (skin of color), dermatology of different age groups (largely neglecting pediatric dermatology), and cosmetic dermatology (omitting laser hair removal).
