Faith, Health, and Healing in African American Life is the latest addition in the Praeger Religion, Health and Healing series. With its first book published in 2004, this series was designed to explore healing as it is practiced in diverse cultures in the United States. Previous volumes in this series examined religious healers, Kabbalah, and spirituality and healing in Native American culture. This latest work, edited by Stephanie Y. Mitchem and Emilie M. Townes, explores the vast and diverse African American community and its culture in terms of spirituality and health. Mitchem and Townes have both published extensively on religion, health care, and culture.
