						Much of the world's population remains at risk of tropical diseases, and millions of individuals die each year. Many of these diseases are neglected through lack of progress in development of treatments and control programs, because they affect the poorest of the world's poor (p 11). Forgotten People, Forgotten Diseases is among the first books to tackle the topic of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). Written by George Washington University professor Peter Hotez, one of the leading campaigners in the field of NTDs, Forgotten People, Forgotten Diseases contains a dedication, a table of contents, a foreword by Sonia and Jeffrey Sachs from the Earth Institute, a foreword by Alyssa Milano from the Global Network for NTDs, a preface, acknowledgments, 12 chapters, an appendix, notes, references, and a comprehensive index. A 12-page insert between pages 20 and 28 presents 16 color plates. However, the book includes no list of abbreviations or glossary.
