TY - JOUR T1 - ORthopaedic management in cerebral palsy AU - McCarthy JJ Y1 - 2009/02/18 N1 - 10.1001/jama.2009.99 JO - JAMA SP - 776 EP - 782 VL - 301 IS - 7 N2 - Orthopaedic Management in Cerebral Palsy is a comprehensive textbook on the classification, etiology, assessment, and treatment of children with cerebral palsy, a thorough and well-written text that builds on the first edition of Eugene Bleck's textbook published in 1987. However, it is much more than a simple update of the previous textbook in that it has been completely rewritten. Despite the title, the book covers much more than just orthopedic management. About half is devoted to classification, assessment, neurobiology, and natural history; the other half is devoted to surgical and nonsurgical treatment options. This is in contrast to other competing textbooks, such as Cerebral Palsy, edited by Freeman Miller, which has a greater focus and emphasis on orthopedic treatment regimens.
