TY - JOUR T1 - GEriatric nutrition AU - Haub MD Y1 - 2008/10/15 N1 - 10.1001/jama.300.15.1825 JO - JAMA SP - 1825 EP - 1826 VL - 300 IS - 15 N2 - The initial chapters use global comparisons to lay the foundation for the importance of geriatric medicine and gerontology with regard to nutrition, then progress to more specific issues, including clinical and molecular aspects. After the initial chapters the book more resembles a textbook, covering a multitude of topics. This, too, is where it could be improved, because there are no sections. While the content is stellar, the organization is lacking because the chapter topics do not appear to be presented in a categorical manner. That said, this book does provide some unique discussions, especially the chapters covering applied topics, eg, nutrition in nursing homes and assisted living centers, ethical issues, and international and multicultural aspects.
