TY - JOUR T1 - OMega-3 fatty acid supplementation and cardiovascular disease events AU - Sethi A, Singh M, Arora R Y1 - 2013/01/02 N1 - 10.1001/jama.2012.116644 JO - JAMA SP - 27 EP - 27 VL - 309 IS - 1 N2 - To the Editor: The meta-analysis by Dr Rizos and colleagues1 synthesized the available evidence on omega-3 PUFA supplementation to prevent adverse cardiovascular outcomes. In addition to conventional random-effects meta-analyses, subgroup analyses and meta-regressions were performed. No association with type of prevention (ie, mixed or secondary) or omega-3 dose was found, and the authors did not demonstrate a net benefit from omega-3 PUFA supplementation after 2007. However, the type of omega-3 PUFA supplements and co-administered medications were not adequately explored.
