N2  - This is a well balanced elementary treatment of the anatomy and physiology of the body. The text is clearly written and the diagrams and drawings are well designed to make clear to the beginner the main facts of structure of the human body. The physiologic facts presented should enable the student to begin to think of organs to some extent in terms of their functions. Both anatomy and physiology are presented in too elementary a fashion to make the book of much value to American medical students, in view of the organization of courses in these subjects in the United States. It should, however, meet a real need in premedical courses and especially in courses in nursing education. If medical students could enter the first year of the medical course with the knowledge of anatomy and physiology which this book would give them, they could go on to gain a detailed knowledge of the body much more easily than is now true for the majority. Numerous books have appeared in recent years with the avowed purpose of simplifying or abbreviating anatomy. The present volume seems to have accomplished these purposes well for the beginner, while making it obviously necessary for the more advanced student to seek more complete textbooks.
