In other words, the scope of the compendium, intended primarily for the use of medical students and interns, is to describe history writing in cases belonging either to one of the fields mentioned or to dermatology, pediatrics, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology or gynecology. Moreover, the present edition has been enlarged by addition of chapters on psychiatry and endocrinology. The author and his collaborators had no intention of offering a treatise on symptomatology or diagnosis and limited themselves to showing the intern how to interrogate and examine the patient and to record the results.
