TY - JOUR T1 - THieme dissector AU - Mulheron GW Y1 - 2012/05/09 N1 - 10.1001/jama.2012.4481 JO - JAMA SP - 1978 EP - 1979 VL - 307 IS - 18 N2 - The last 5 years have seen a large increase in the number and available formats of gross anatomy dissectors. This staple of the dissection laboratory has been transformed by its adaptation to electronic media. Electronic dissectors are more student friendly and offer enhancements such as interactivity, high-resolution graphics, video, and search capabilities that print media simply cannot match. Nevertheless, even in electronic format most of the current dissectors still constrain the user to the dissection methodology of the author. As medical school curricula continue to evolve and move away from classic gross anatomy courses to systems-based and other approaches, the need for flexibility and the ability to customize content is becoming more important.
