TY - JOUR T1 - EVidence-based management of stroke AU - Ross IB Y1 - 2012/04/11 N1 - 10.1001/jama.2012.439 JO - JAMA SP - 1534 EP - 1535 VL - 307 IS - 14 N2 - Despite strong areas of data presentation, the book is uneven. Most of the authors are native English speakers, but not all. It is discouraging that the first 2 sentences in the introduction to chapter 1—an otherwise adequate chapter on use of thrombolysis in ischemic stroke—contain grammatical errors. The first 3 chapters are almost purely factual. However, the fourth, on the use of anticoagulant therapy in the prevention of stroke, is both pleasant to read and full of useful up-to-date information, including discussions on dabigatran, diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome, and the management of atrial fibrillation and other disorders of the heart.
