Administering systemic cytotoxic drugs, biologic agents, or both after complete resection of select solid tumors, including breast, lung, and colon cancers, further improves outcomes achieved following surgery alone.1- 3 Clinical research has provided important insights regarding the appropriate administration of adjuvant therapies. Treatment for a finite duration has in general been shown to be sufficient to obtain maximum benefit with improvement in patient outcomes reflected as an increased percentage of cures, rather than merely prolonging the time until cancer recurs.
