In a letter sent August 4 to Jacob J. Lew, director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Grassley said he was concerned following media reports that the OMB might be attempting to weaken conflict-of-interest rules proposed in May 2010 by the Department of Health and Human Services. A key issue for Grassley was the report that the OMB was considering removing the requirement for a publicly available Web site that would publish the potential conflicts of interest of researchers funded by taxpayers (http://tinyurl.com/3tobwcu).
