Like the vast majority of hospitals, at least in California, this
hospital is not making 15.9% profit, on any payer type. When the
Health Care Financing Administration included autopsies
and other services to all patients in their
diagnosis-related group rates, they never specified what percentage was
allocated for the different services. In these times of decreasing
reimbursement, these monies never leave the hospitals' coffers.
