Of 1007 patients screened who went through placebo washout, only 594
were subsequently eligible for the study. Excluding this many patients
raises a question of selection bias and may not make the results of the
study applicable to the
general population.2 Additionally, 21%
of the patients had not been receiving any therapy prior to
randomization. Knowing how this population of untreated patients was
distributed in the 2 groups would be helpful.
