All of these points made up the SAR (ie, ruling and supplemental points). At each visit, the 3 main points were always needled, and the supplemental points were chosen based on the patient's specific symptoms. This SAR was developed through consultation with 8 additional acupuncturists experienced in HIV care. The acupuncturists we consulted agreed that the regimen should be effective.
