Now as you know there are two principal varieties of hæmorrhoids, the internal and the external, and those two varieties have their seats in the two plexuses of hæmorrhoidal veins. The inferior plexus is situated just within the sphincter ani, and empties its blood into the illiac veins, and then through the inferior vena cava to the heart.
