Warning that action is needed to prevent malarial parasites from developing resistance to artemisinin-based drugs that are critical to battling the disease, the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Malaria Programme and the Roll Back Malaria partnership last month released a plan to tackle this problem. The Global Plan for Artemisinin Resistance Containment (http://tinyurl.com/6expvso) calls on global, national, and regional stakeholders to work together swiftly to defeat the source of resistance and prevent its spread.
