AB In bringing out this interesting essay, the editor has been animated by a desire to do honor to a man who looms up among his contemporaries. We may safely call Donders a great man, for he did much to place ophthalmology on a truly scientific plane, and in this little brochure are presented the principles of refraction of the eye that have formed the basis for the elaborate work done in subsequent decades. It will certainly prove of interest to the ophthalmic student, and we may thank the editor that he has shown a "desire to give a great man greater honor and to offer such a man's work an increased amount of usefulness."
