RT Journal T1 ELectro-haemostasis in operative surgery. JF Journal of the American Medical Association JO Journal of the American Medical Association YR 1899 FD July 29 VO XXXIII IS 5 SP 301 OP 301 DO 10.1001/jama.1899.02450570059019 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/jama.1899.02450570059019 AB This work is a monographic statement of the construction and uses of the author's electric hemostatic forceps, which appears to be a very valuable addition to the surgeon's armamentarium. It is profusely illustrated, the descriptions are clear and readable, and the author's success with his method appears to have been very satisfactory in quite a wide range of operations. The cuts, though evidently made from elaborate drawings, are largely schematic, and, therefore, the more intelligible and illustrative of the text. The concluding chapters are devoted to the description of the author's approved methods of surgical antisepsis and asepsis, including hospital construction and disinfection methods.
